  Laryngology in the COVID-Era

Dr. LAU is an ENT surgeon in private practice, treating adults and children, with over 25 years’ practice in the specialty. He has a sub-specialty interest in laryngeal, voice and swallowing disorders. His research areas have included voice outcomes after vocal fold medialisation, development of a novel single-step method for outpatient tracheo-esophageal puncture, Raman spectroscopy for optical diagnosis, and breathing techniques in the treatment of laryngeal muscle misuse disorders including chronic cough. He pioneered the use of trans-nasal esophagoscopy in ENT practice in Singapore, and has directed a number of courses on laryngeal laser surgery, dysphagia, and transnasal esophagoscopy. In 2019 he was the organising president for the first Asia Pacific Laryngology Association Conference in Singapore. Despite a busy private practice he continues to be active academically, teaching regularly locally and regionally, and maintains visiting consultancy at the National University and Singapore General Hospital.
