  Exploring the Human Microbiome in Diagnosis and Treatment for Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Dr. Chen received a B.S. in 1997 and a Ph.D. in 2002 from Ocean University of China, both in Marine Biology. Between 2002 and 2009, he joined Albert Einstein College of Medicine, USA as a Research Associate and received training in molecular genomics and bioinformatics in viruses and other microorganisms. In 2009, he was promoted to Instructor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, USA. In 2015, he joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), China, as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Chen has a strong foundation in molecular evolution and bioinformatics, with research interests in the genomics diversity and carcinogenicity of human microbiome and HPV in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and cervical cancer, and the application of bacterial biomarkers in clinical management and therapeutic intervention.
