Professor Richard SU

Professor Richard Su is currently serving as Clinical Professor and Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Faculty of Dentistry at The University of Hong Kong. With a career dedicated to advancing the fields of oral and maxillofacial surgery, oncology, and reconstructive surgery, Professor Su has established himself as a global authority in his specialty.

Professor Su is an active member of several prestigious international organizations, including Council Member of the International Academy of Oral Oncology and an International Faculty member of AO CMF. He also contributes to the academic community as a Section Editor of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Associate Editor of Frontiers in Oncology, and Craniomaxillofacial Trauma & Reconstruction.

His research focuses on clinical and translational studies in oral and maxillofacial oncology, microsurgical reconstruction, and salivary gland diseases, with a particular emphasis on computer-assisted surgery and 3D printing in head and neck reconstruction. Professor Su has published over 150 manuscripts in peer-reviewed international journals and is the inventor of seven patents, including two US and EU patents and five China patents. His innovative work has been supported by nine peer-reviewed external research grants as the principal investigator, reflecting the impact and relevance of his research.

A sought-after speaker, Professor Su has been invited to deliver lectures at numerous international and regional conferences and courses, sharing his expertise and insights with the global medical community.

Dr. ​Napadon Tangjaturonrasme is an Associate Professor, Division of Head Neck Surgery at the Department of Otolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine of Chulalongkorn University. He is a fellow of the European Board in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He is also the President of Thai Society for Head and Neck Oncology.

Dr Eguchi is a head and neck surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of malignant tumors. His clinical expertise ranges from skull base and mediastinal surgery to minimally invasive endoscopic procedures and extended resections with complex reconstruction.  He has a particular interest in deep facial and skull base surgery, and he has been developing novel approaches that combine endoscopic techniques with osteotomies. In recent years, he obtained certification as a da Vinci SP surgeon and has been actively performing transoral robotic surgery (TORS). His current focus is on refining minimally invasive, function-preserving surgical techniques in the field of head and neck oncology.

Dr Vlantis is an ​Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His main field of clinical interest is head and neck oncological surgery, including surgery for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma. He is involved with and contributes to the undergraduate ENT programme for Medical Students of the Faculty of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to his present appointment he worked in South Africa and in The Netherlands.

Dr Largo is an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center and a board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with fellowship training in microsurgery and tissue engineering. His clinical practice is dedicated to high-complexity oncologic reconstruction, with a particular focus on restoring function, form, and quality of life for patients undergoing head and neck cancer resection. Over the past decade, he has performed more than a thousand complex microsurgical reconstructions with one of the highest case volumes worldwide, achieving consistently excellent outcomes.

In parallel with his surgical practice, he is deeply engaged in research and innovation. His academic work spans flap innovation, optimization of reconstructive algorithms, patient-reported outcomes, and functional restoration after cancer surgery. He has authored or co-authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications, including high-impact studies in leading medical journals, and he actively collaborates in multi-institutional and international research initiatives.

Complementing his clinical and academic career, he recently completed his MBA at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with a focus on business analytics, strategy, and entrepreneurship. This training has broadened his perspective on healthcare delivery and innovation, equipping him to contribute not only as a surgeon and scientist but also as a leader in advancing patient-centered care.
