The Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery has a long track record as being the leader in research in dysphagia, voice disorders, hearing implantation and rehabilitation. The first ever validated assessment kit on Cantonese-speaking hearing impaired children, the Cantonese Basic Speech Perception Test, was developed and published by the former Division of Otorhinolaryngology. We have also been taking a leading role in running training workshops in Hong Kong and mainland China for front-line professionals in managing clients of communication and swallowing difficulties.
